Robert honed his line cook skills working under Jennifer in the kitchen. He has since graduated to sous chef. It was a new normal for everyone, except for Ryder, whose Zoom fatigue set in quite early on.

In true "The Bachelor" fashion, Robert brought Jennifer to his hometown of Detroit, Michigan in July 2021. Jennifer was taken on the “Robert Gustafson Detroit Tour,” visiting his birth place, schools, and favorite haunts. Robert was hoping to psych Jennifer out by pretending he was going to propose. His palms were sweaty, knees weak… but unfortunately he never dropped down to one knee. Staying true to "The Bachelor", Jennifer would have to wait until the season finale.

Robert proposed to Jennifer on August 14th, 2021 at the Kogod Courtyard in the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC. Robert secretly flew both parents in from California and Michigan. Despite Robert's best efforts, Jennifer knew something was up but had no idea everyone would be there.

The pandemic once again forced Robert and Jennifer home for New Years. They hosted their second glow stick pandemic themed karaoke party with the attendance of their one guest, Ryder. He did not want to come but what can you do when the party is at your house? Things got wild. Jennifer fell asleep, microphone clutched in her hand, before midnight!
